and Issues Call for Papers

Culminating an initiative announced earlier this year, the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) has officially launched a semi-annual peer-reviewed professional journal (known for short as JOIFA) as the first of its kind in the area of Islamic finance accountancy.

JOIFA shall publish original and unpublished empirical research papers in English, for now, and later in Arabic as well. JOIFA will accept and encourage papers that improve theories and practices and work towards, in particular, the revision of financial accounting standards issued by AAOIFI, and any other relevant specialized areas.

This initiative is critical for encouraging and promoting academic and scientific debates within the industry, highlighting accounting problems faced by Islamic financial institutions, provide updates in the field of accounting in general, and Islamic accounting in particular, and improve relationships and build synergies between academicians, practitioners, and other individuals interested in Islamic accounting and related fields.

The call for papers has been issued for the inaugural/premier issue of JOIFA to be published in September 2017. The theme is “Islamic Accounting: Its Need, Rationale, AAOIFI’s work so far, and the Way Forward.”
